It is important for the effective operation of the optical devices in an armoured fighting vehicle that the outer optical faces are, wherever possible, kept free from water, ice, dirt and other contaminants that might otherwise obscure the user's view
Heated elements are used to de-mist and de-ice outer optical faces. Internal desiccation comes as standard for all our unity vision periscope and vehicle sights in order to prevent any internal condensation.
In addition to offering traditional in-service wash wipe solutions, Kent Periscopes now also offer an innovative new wash wipe system (UK Patent Application Number 0919575.1) to clean away water and dirt from the outer optical faces of periscopes and other observation systems.
